Description

Nová Cvernovka is Slovakia’s largest creative cluster. Housed in an old thread factory, the organisation was established in 2015 in response to gentrification-related displacement in Bratislava. Today, Nová Cvernovka represents a successful model for repurposing abandoned and damaged buildings into vibrant community ecosystems focused on creativity, cultural and social innovation, and environmental sustainability. With more than 450 current members—including architects, designers, fine artists, filmmakers, and photographers—Nová Cvernovka has grown organically through community participation, knowledge exchange, shared resources, and cooperation. These principles continue to lie at the heart of the organisation, with two community-based advisory boards that regularly meet to discuss the long-term architectural and environmental strategies for the project.
